In its perspective of developing green credit products adapted to its customers in rural areas, COOCEC-KIVU is completing a study to assess needs at household level: energy, cooking solutions, WASH, & food security.

The results of this study were revealed by Justin Mugula, Managing Director of COOCEC-KIVU, during a summary presentation of the new 2024-2026 business plan and the strategic objectives assigned to his institution during this period.

He underlined the need for this microfinance structure to align innovative and transformative objectives to meet the needs revealed by two studies carried out in 2023, including a client satisfaction study and a needs assessment study at the level of households.


“At the start of the 2024 financial year and for the other two years to come which correspond to the implementation period of our new 2024-2026 development plan, we have resolved to align our action on three priority axes including digitalization, the development of green products and products dedicated to SMEs for women and young people.


There are enormous challenges for the populations who trust us, especially in rural areas, to access clean energy sources, adequate cooking solutions, healthy food and clean water; and we, as a financial structure that campaigns for financial inclusion, must also seek and provide solutions that advocate for the protection of the environment and resilience in the face of the effects of climate change which impact the daily lives of our customers.”
